About me
"A native New Orleanian, art infiltrated Mona Shiber’s childhood and senses. Architectural studies led her to a BFA & MFA in ceramic sculpture, emphasizing drawing and installations. Years forward, her studies expanded in: Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction, Embodyoga, meditation & mediation trainings plus various forms and traditions in the healing arts. She holds a vision as a transformational artist. Wall reliefs, sculptures, installations, public art, and community projects incorporated with cross-cultural symbolism, encompass her work. Art making and the contemplative merge within her work and pedagogy. Mona has brought these to Washington University; as an art residency/guest lectureship at the National Institute of Design in Gujarat, India, Virginia Tech, VA and Goddard College, VT; cancer centers; women's groups; and community arts organizations. She shares an exploration of creative insights while midwifing a deeper artistic reflective process."
