Ruben Quesada is a Costa Rican-American poet and critic. His publications include poetry collections Brutal Companion (2024, Barrow Street Editors Prize) and Next Extinct Mammal (2011), chapbooks Jane/La Segua (2023) and Revelations (2018). As editor, he produced the award-winning anthology Latinx Poetics: Essays on the Art of Poetry (2022) and translated Luis Cernuda's poems in Exiled from the Throne of Night (2008).His work appears in The New York Times Magazine, American Poetry Review, Ploughshares, Orion Magazine, Harvard Review, and elsewhere. He has received fellowships from Lambda Literary, CantoMundo, the Vermont Studio Center, and the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts. He founded the Latinx Writers Caucus at AWP and served on the National Book Critics Circle board. Currently, he hosts the Mercy Street Reading Series and teaches in the Pan-European MFA Program in Creative Writing at Cedar Crest College.
