Sarah Soares (they/them) is a local queer artist & a recent college graduate who studied dance & psychology at Salem State University. Sarah experiments with movements rooted in modern dance & improvisation. They have participated both as a performer and a choreographer in events such as Salem’s semesterly Dance Ensemble productions and the yearly Salem Arts Festival in Salem. During their college career their solo work titled “Petri Dish” was picked 4 amongst 38 in the region to attend ACDA 2023 nationals in Long Beach California."Petri Dish” is a piece that explores themes of gender, vanity, depression, and themes of scopophobia, also gaining them the honor of a Creative Arts Award/scholarship.
Sarah is consistently dancing through life as they continue to build up experience as a choreographer, performer, and teacher in the Northshore area. From Just Dance parties to musical theatre to the experimental and weird, Sarah challenges themselves and others to experience and break the boundaries of what it means to be a queer performer one performance at a time. Dance should be and can be accessible to anybody and everybody.
